What is Surf Sports

In addition to our fun and educational Sunday Nippers activities, our junior members can participate in Surf Sports and carnivals.

Surf Sports include ocean, beach & pool events. Our juniors are split into two groups as follows:

  • Little Nippers (Under 8′ and Under 9’s)
  • Nippers (under 10’s to Under 13’s)

Requirements

Children must have completed their pool proficiency,  have their own board and fluro rashies (available from the club).

Parents are requested to discuss any issues with coaches prior to or after training (not during training)

Where possible parents are encouraged to assist with water safety.

Surf Sports Competition Proficiency

All children wishing to compete at Surf Life Saving WA Carnivals and undertake surf sports training must complete a competition ocean proficiency swim. Competition Swim Proficiencies are undertaken at the start of each season.  

Please remember your fluro vest and goggles.

Junior Coaching and Training (Under 8 – 10 age groups – Summer schedule)

Monday: Beach Run/Sprint/Flags Training (all ages) 4:30pm @ Secret Harbour 

Wednesday: Board Training  – 5:00 – 6:00pm @ Palm Beach, Rockingham

Junior Coaching and Training (Under 11 – 13 age groups – Summer schedule)

Monday: Beach Run/Sprint/Flags Training (all ages) 4:30pm @ Secret Harbour 

Wednesday: Board Training – 5:00 – 6:00pm @  Palm Beach, Rockingham OR

Wednesday: Board Training – 4:30pm – 6:00pm @  Secret Harbour (ONLY if proficient in surf conditions)

Sunday: Ironman Training  – 7:00 – 8:30am @ Secret Harbour
