Nipper Rescue Certificate 

Where:                Secret Harbour SLSC

When:                  Saturday 17 November, 9am to 12noon

Why:                     Parents and guardians who can volunteer with nippers and assist age managers with water safety

Requirements:    200 meter swim in open water from a buoy to buoy plus tube rescues/ tows in the surf / Signals.

Advanced Resuscitation Techniques Certificate ART (AID)

When:                  Thursday the 1st and 8th November 6.00 pm to 9.00pm

Requirements:

  • Be at least 15 years of age on the date of final assessment
  • Be a financial member of a SLS club

Pain Management

  • Meet your state licensing requirements of Schedule S4 drugs
  • Be proficient in the SLSA award: Advanced Resuscitation Techniques Certificate

Start Time: 09.00am SHARP for registrations to Completion
Dry Session in the Wet Training Area First followed by
Wet Session (Run/Swim/Run-Spinal-Board or Tube Rescue etc)

No RSVP required – If you cannot make these Skills Maintenance Dates please contact me via email to organise an alternate date.

Skills maintenance checks are necessary to:
 ensure ongoing competency of members in their area of training and activities

Bronze Medallion and Surf Rescue Certificate

The theory & wet sessions will run every week at the club. Monday evenings theory 6.30 to 9pm. Sundays wet sessions 7am to 11am.

Bronze Requirements:

  •   – Must be 15 years of age at the date of assessment
  •   – 400 m pool swim in under 9 minutes
  •   – 200m Run – 200m Swim – 200 Run in under 8 minutes
  •   – Demonstrate radio operations
  •   – Demonstrate basic first aid
  •   – Demonstrate 10 signals
  •   – Demonstrate lifts and carries
  •   – Demonstrate board and tube rescues
  •   – Demonstrate spinal management
  •   – Demonstrate resuscitation and defibrillation

 Bronze Registration and Course Fee

  •   – Adults: $100
  •   – Adults (hold SRC): $80
  •   – Cadets (new members): $80
  •   – Cadets (hold a SRC): $60
  •   – Must be a member of the club

Surf Rescue Certificate (SRC) Requirements

The Surf Rescue Certificate is the very first stage of becoming a lifesaver. Whether you plan to compete in surf sports or simply patrol, there are plenty of opportunities and a variety of challenges within a surf club. For U/13 – U/14’s who participate in Senior Surf Life Saving competitions, the SRC is a requirement, along with minimum patrol hours to compete at local and state competitions/carnivals.

To assist your club with community service via patrolling our beaches, develop team building skills, helping with water safety at carnivals and surf club events or for parents to participate in their children’s nipper activities (water safety). 

SRC participants will need to:

  •   – Complete a 200m pool swim in under 5 minutes
  •   – Perform a board and tube rescue of a conscious and unconscious patient
  •   – Perform basic first aid
  •   – Perform Resuscitation and Patient Assessment
  •   – Complete a 100m Run, 100m Swim, 100m run in under five minutes
  •   – Communicate on Patrol via signals
  •   – Must be a member of the club

No SRC course fee is charged.

 

Members may also become trainers themselves, please do not hesitate to contact the Director of Education for more information on becoming involved.
