Why:                  If you’re interested in becoming a new age manager or are an existing age manager and would like to volunteer again                               for the 2019/20 season please attend

Bronze Medallion and Surf Rescue Certificate

Course Date: This course runs annually between October and December.

The theory & wet sessions will run every week at the club. Monday evenings theory 6.30 to 9pm. Sundays wet sessions 7am to 11am.

  •   – Must be 15 years of age at the date of assessment
  •   – 400 m pool swim in under 9 minutes
  •   – 200m Run – 200m Swim – 200 Run in under 8 minutes
  •   – Demonstrate radio operations
  •   – Demonstrate basic first aid
  •   – Demonstrate 10 signals
  •   – Demonstrate lifts and carries
  •   – Demonstrate board and tube rescues
  •   – Demonstrate spinal management
  •   – Demonstrate resuscitation and defibrillation

 Bronze Registration and Course Fee

  •   – Adults: TBC
  •   – Adults (hold SRC): TBC
  •   – Cadets (new members): TBC

Surf Rescue Certificate (SRC) Requirements

The Surf Rescue Certificate is the very first stage of becoming a lifesaver. Whether you plan to compete in surf sports or simply patrol, there are plenty of opportunities and a variety of challenges within a surf club. For U/13 – U/14’s who participate in Senior Surf Life Saving competitions, the SRC is a requirement, along with minimum patrol hours to compete at local and state competitions/carnivals.

To assist your club with community service via patrolling our beaches, develop team building skills, helping with water safety at carnivals and surf club events or for parents to participate in their children’s nipper activities (water safety). 

SRC participants will need to:

  •   – Complete a 200m pool swim in under 5 minutes
  •   – Perform a board and tube rescue of a conscious and unconscious patient
  •   – Perform basic first aid
  •   – Perform Resuscitation and Patient Assessment
  •   – Complete a 100m Run, 100m Swim, 100m run in under five minutes
  •   – Communicate on Patrol via signals
  •   – Must be a member of the club

No SRC course fee is charged.

 

Members may also become trainers themselves, please do not hesitate to contact the Director of Education for more information on becoming involved.
