AID – Advanced Resuscitation Techniques Certificate

Course Dates: Tuesday Tuesday 13 and 20 March from 6 – 9 pm

The aim of the AID course is to develop your skills and knowledge to use oxygen, airway management devices, and automated external defibrillators during resuscitation, and to administer oxygen to casualties.

Current ARTC holders are encouraged to UPGRADE to ART (AID) & MUST attend second night for assessment & complete written question in the assessment portfolio. However it is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED to attend both nights of course

Course Outcomes
By the end of this course, the candidate should be able to:

  • Assess the casualty and develop a management plan
  • Check defibrillation equipment
  • Attach and operate a defibrillator
  • Recover and restore defibrillation equipment
  • Check resuscitation equipment
  • Resuscitate a casualty using oxygen
  • Use oxygen to provide therapy
  • Recover and restore oxygen equipment
  • Maintain an airway by: Using oropharyngeal airways (OP airways) and suction

Assessment
Candidates will be assessed for competence in the following ways:

  • Completion of the ART workbook
  • Practical scenarios

All participants please complete written questions in assessment portfolio prior to course. Any difficulty answering written questions will be discussĀ  at the course

Course Prerequisites:

  • be at least 15 years of age on the date of final assessment
  • hold ONE of the following SLSA awards: Bronze Medallion, Basic Emergency Care, Apply (Senior) First Aid or Resuscitation Certificate
