Welcome aboard to our new President and Directors.

President -Brendan Privilege ” I commenced my SLS journey as a Nipper, progressed to Cadets and gained my Bronze in 1986 at City of Perth SLSC. I’ve had 1 season off since then. From my bronze certificate, I gained my radio operators certificate and commenced shifts in Surfcom(VN6SA); IRB driver and IRB instructor; Bronze, ARC and Radio instructor and examiner. I have previously held positions as chief instructor and President for other Clubs. I have competed in Surf sports since 1985, won and have coached several State title medals and competed at 10 Australian Titles. Clubs I have been a member of include: City of Perth, Broome, Mullaloo, Mandurah and spent 5 years SLS in NSW with Queenscliffe, Dee Why and Newport SLSC’s. I have been a member with Secret Harbour SLSC since 2000 and currently coach in Surf sports and Surfboat sweep”

Director of Youth – Bec Hughes “Hi, I have been a member of SHSLSC for over 10 years and involved in running Nippers for 3 years now.  I am a physio and work part-time, Steve and I have 4 children, Lynden was an age manager with the now under 12’s for 4 years, Emma is an active patrolling member and thinking about being a trainer in the new year, Mia did Nippers for 6 years and Ethan is active in the Under 10’s with my husband Steve being an age manager team with the under 10’s. I love what Nippers stands for which is a welcoming family environment where kids have fun, connect and feel they belong to a wonderful community.  I welcome all parents who are ready to be involved with water safety/age managing, BBQ, beach set up etc, there are many roles to suit us all and many hands make light work and a heap more laughs!!!”

Director of Education – Mark Dove ” I am a secondary school teacher of English & History, I have been in Surf Lifesaving since I was 12. I have patrolled and competed in the U.K, Queensland and W.A. I’m a Patrol Captain, Trainer & Assessor, Coach and all-round good guy. I love playing in the surf and reading!”

Director of House & Social – Jaime Thomas: I grew up in WA but never had much to do with the beach until 2005 when we moved to Secret Harbour.

I started with surf lifesaving in 2007 shortly before my husband Mark did his Bronze medallion. I followed 2 years later and completed my bronze medallion and ARTC.over the following years I have also done several other awards. We have patrolled as a family and then when our kids (Chloe and Joel) were old enough took on the nipper side of things followed by competitions whilst still patrolling for the community.

I haven’t competed myself but followed the kids and occasionally husband around to support them.

Outside of Surf Lifesaving, I am a hairdresser and mother of 2.

I love people and love to socialise so I’m hoping my role as Director of House and social comes as an extension to my character.

Club Captain – Jessica Williams: I joined SLS in 2005 first in NSW at Shoalhaven Heads SLSC before moving to WA and joining Secrets. I’m a bronze and IRB Driver/Crew Trainer, have been an Age Manager, competed in the WA state team at Nationals in 2015, have been a patrolling member since 2011, active in surf sports that include but aren’t limited to surf boats, Ironman and IRB racing. Selected and attended the National Leadership College earlier this year and was chosen to work in Denmark as a Lifeguard on exchange.

I work for Surf WA as a professional lifeguard, a water safety member and as an AirCrew for the Westpac Helicopter.

Our remaining Board members from last year are:

Director of Lifesaving – Iain Lund

Director of Surf sports – Sam Maurice

Director of Sponsorship and Grants – Laura Adolphus
